Special activities in Consulting club?

I'm going to apply Fuqua  this year. You know many B-schools have consulting clubs. I want to know is there anything special in the Fuqua consulting club?  I noticed that Accenture is the platinum sponsor of this club, so do you have more activities related to Accenture?

I think most Consulting clubs see their goal/mission in a similar manner. At Duke we try to do the best job we can - be the best Consulting club there is. That requires a good strategy (consultants...) and strong implementation.

Some of the key aspects of our strategy are: ensuring that Cabinet leaders are committed to the club year long, educating our students about consulting and then helping them to get on close lists and perform great duirng interviews, and offering consulting training to Duke wide graduate students to contnue to enhance Duke strong brand among consulting firms by offering university wide talent.

How do accomplish this? A fully functional, tool-oriented, role based portal - a one stop shop for all stakeholders (that includes you!) - case libraries, practice schedulers, blogs, calendars, knowledge MGMT library etc. Actionable, projebased & dynamic Consulting Club Roadmap calendar covering the learning, networking and training aspects. Highly selective cabinet selection process (~20%). Project-based, “consulting like”, Cabinet staffing model - securing ongoing yearlong commitment, and much more.

Please see the calendar and home page for more specific info on future events / events held (you can browse back and see what we have accomplished).

Re: Special activities in Consulting club?

To specifically address your question, I think what is special about the Fuqua consulting club is that we constantly assess where we stand in terms of the impact we are having on first years and second years in their consulting job search. Every activity that the club undertakes is geared towards ensuring that students have the best possible information and training to achieve success in what is a fairly challenging process. There is a very structured process (a Roadmap) in place that is build through input from 2nd years who have successfully navigated the consulting job search. There is a case library and case book which is constantly updated. There are workshops organized throughout the year. Most importantly, the Roadmap and other events are tweaked based on feedback from students. I believe this entire process is unique in that we are a very pro-active club that is constantly evolving and getting better every day. You can learn more about specific club activities by exploring this website and looking at the calendar of events.

To address your 2nd question, while a platinum sponsor will definitely get more publicity at certain events in addition to certain other benefits, our activities are by no means restricted to Accenture. Most of the big firms sponsor important events on campus. For example, currently we are gearing up for the Deloitte Case Competition which involves 8 teams from Duke competing against 8 teams from UNC.

Re: Special activities in Consulting club?

To Validate the committment of this club:

I am a graduate student at Pratt and I can vouch that the officers and associates of this club put in a lot of effort.

Considering I am not even enrolled at Fuqua, but just a  part of this club I have managed to have 6 mock interviews which have been very helpful. These resources are primarily for Fuqua students but when they have time they help out outside Fuqua too.

Re: Special activities in Consulting club?
I would like to second the statement made by Jaineet , I spoke with my acquaintance at Duke and he told me that people not only succeed themselves but they help their peers in job hunts and train them to do well at interviews...( I wish was in US , I would have come and visited ppl from consulting club) So much passion in the school ( esp. consulting club..) Its like not only your teachers but whole of your batch wants you to succeed.. I dont think this kind of atmosphere is available anywhere else.
